Welcome to WEA South West Region

The South West Region was formed on the 1st August 2004 when the former Western and South Western Districts merged to form one new Region, stretching over 300 miles from Swindon to Cornwall and delivering provision in a wide range of venues across the area.

You can read more about these areas and view brochures giving details of the courses on offer via the link on the Regional Structure and Contents pages of this website.

The Courses page also gives links to brochures and has a section on Residential Courses.

The strength, and the ‘difference’, of the WEA is that it is a voluntary organisation which relies on its members (current and former students) to help organise and support learning in their local communities - in village halls, community centres, schools and in some cases public houses!

Almost half of our provision is organised by local branches.  You can see a complete list of local branches under the branch section.  The remainder is largely delivered in partnership with community groups and employers.

All WEA courses are open to all adults and we are committed to equality and diversity. You need no qualifications to join most of our courses. Whatever your past educational and life experience the WEA has something to offer. We can help you develop new skills, extend your learning or just encourage you to enjoy a new interest. Most of our courses can form an excellent basis for adults to get back to learning and training.

The WEA aims to provide high quality learning opportunities in a friendly environment. Whichever type of course you choose we hope you achieve your aims and have a positive learning experience.

Why not use the course search facility on this site to find something of interest and benefit to you?  Or contact your nearest regional office as an initial contact point.  If you are a community group and want to organise some learning we may also be able to support you.

We are looking to widen our tutor base, across a wide range of subjects, and would welcome enquiries from prospective tutors. Please make initial enquiries on 01392 457300.
